THE ALDRIDGE JUNIOR SIGNATURE ART PRIZE

SPONSORED BY CALLSIGN

The Signature Art Prize was established by gallery Directors Isobel Beauchamp and Elinor Olisa in 2007 to celebrate and identify emerging artists’ ‘Signature Style’. They define an artist’s ‘signature style’ as being “that which makes an artist unique; a combination of process and method, contributed to by the artist’s own personality which results in a piece that is unique and specific to them.” With their intuitive knowledge of the contemporary art market, they endeavour to fully capture and develop each individual artist’s ‘brand’.

This year, the Aldridge Junior Signature Art Prize will run alongside the Signature Art Prize 10th Edition, exclusively for KS4 and KS5 students from the family of Aldridge Schools.

Students are invited to submit a piece of artwork that shows off their signature style and falls in to one of the following 5 categories:

FINE ART | GRAPHICS | TEXTILES | PHOTOGRAPHY | FILM

CLOSING DATE FOR ENTRIES: 30 November 2019

3 FINALISTS PER CATEGORY ANNOUNCED: 10 December 2019

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: Students in Year 10, 11, 12 & 13 can apply however due to OFQUAL regulations, current artwork being submitted for examinations cannot be entered – if you are unsure whether this applies to you, please check with your art teacher.

Entries will then be reviewed and judged by a panel of esteemed industry professionals, including renowned artist Dr. Helen Gorrill, who will announce their chosen shortlist - three artists per category - on 10th December 2019. These pieces will be exhibited at a gala event at the design-led Bankside Hotel, alongside the main Signature Prize, in February 2020 (date tbc), and an overall winner from each category will be chosen on the night.

All shortlisted artists will be invited to London to see what goes on behind the scenes of an art exhibition, attend a preview event and be in with a chance of winning some incredible prizes, including quality art materials and the overall winner will be awarded an internship with DegreeArt.com, one of the UK’s first online galleries.
